Stem

A large tree. Blaze odour like that of Camphor Laurel (Cinnamomum camphora) or Pine (Pinus spp.).

Leaves

Leaf blades about 7.5-13.5 x 1.4-2.2 cm, generally in whorls of three. Oil dots small but visible to the naked eye, very numerous. Midrib raised on the upper surface of the leaf blade.

Flowers

Flowers sessile but aggregated into pedunculate triads about 10 mm diam., in panicles or racemes. Inflorescence hairs branched and septate.

Fruit

Fruit about 5-6 mm long, usually one seeded. Seeds peltate, cotyledons large, broad and contorted.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NT. Altitudinal range probably quite small, collected at 100 m. Grows in fringing forest and gallery forest particularly in sandstone gorges along creeks emerging from Arnhem Land.
