Flowers and fruits as a shrub about 1.5-4 m tall.


Leaf blades about 8.5-20 x 4.0-9.5 cm, petioles 1.5-4 cm long. Lateral veins about 6-12 on each side of the midrib, curved throughout their length. Leaf blade margin with about 15-45 teeth on each side. Leaf blade white on the underside but the midrib and lateral veins clothed in coppery brown hairs.


Flowers about 4-5 mm diam. Sepals + hypanthium about 1.5 mm long. Petals about 3 mm long with a curtain of white tissue on the inner lower part of each petal. Staminal filaments about 1 mm long. Disk yellow to orange, margin crenate. Style about 1 mm long, stigma globular.


Fruits about 3-5 mm diam. Seeds numerous and tiny. Testa rugose with a hexagonal pattern. Embryo small, cotyledons and radicle straight.


Cotyledons orbicular, about 2-3 mm diam. First pair of true leaves +/- ovate, margin with a few coarse teeth. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade surface somewhat bullate and the margin strongly serrate. Lower surface of the leaf blade densely clothed in white prostrate hairs except for the pale brown hairs on the midrib and the main lateral veins. Terminal bud and stem densely clothed in pale brown prostrate hairs.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to NEQ(?), known only from collections made in the Koolmoon Creek, Tully Falls and Kirrama regions. Altitudinal range from 600-800 m. Grows as an understory plant in rocky exposed areas along creeks and in similar situations.
