Family Description

A family of 11 genera and 170 species with a world-wide distribution; three genera occur naturally in Australia, one genus introduced.

Genera

Aphananthe - A genus of five species in Madagascar, Asia, Malesia, Australia, the Solomon Islands and Mexico; one species occurs naturally in Australia. Hewson (1989).

Celtis - A genus of about 60 species, pantropic and also in temperate regions; four species occur naturally in Australia. Hewson (1989); Soepadmo (1977); Sattarian & Maesen (2005).

Trema - A genus of about 15 species, cosmopolitan; four species occur naturally in Australia. Hewson (1989); Soepadmo (1977).
