Stem

A slender vine not exceeding a stem diameter of 2 cm.

Leaves

Leaf blades about 15-25 x 18-25 mm, petioles about 8-15 mm long. Upper and lower leaf blade surfaces clothed in hairs with glandular bases. Tendrils simple, unbranched.

Flowers

Inflorescences +/- leaf-opposed rather than truly axillary. Male flowers: Borne in racemes. Peduncles about 14-30 mm long. Pedicels about 10-15 mm long. Calyx lobes filiform, about 0.7-1.5 mm long. Corolla lobes about 6-8 mm long. Anther locules straight. Female flowers: Flowers solitary. Pedicels about 30-35 mm long. Ovary about 6 mm long, densely clothed in downward-pointing hairs.

Fruit

Fruits about 20-25 x 10 mm, surface sparsely hispid. Seeds about 3-4 x 2.5 mm, testa surface pitted, margin thickened. Cotyledons about 2 x 1.5 mm. Radicle about 0.5-0.7 mm long. Inner testa thin and transparent.

Seedlings

Distribution and Ecology

Occurs in NEQ. Known only from a single collection on the Annan River at an altitude of about 120 m. Grows in gallery forest.
