Stem

Usually grows as a small tree but occasionally flowers and fruits as a shrub.

Leaves

Leaf blades about 7-11 x 3-5 cm. Leaf blades marked by lateral veins and by pale resin canals which subtend a lower angle with the midrib. Petiole channelled on the upper surface.

Flowers

Male flowers: Calyx lobes about 2.5 x 1 mm. Petals obovate. Stamens six to eight, anthers +/- globose and 1 mm diam or longer than wide, about 0.9 x 0.4 mm. Filaments absent or very short. Female flower features not available.

Fruit

Fruits globose, about 40 x 30-35 mm. Seeds 1-3 per fruit, about 8-13 x 4.5-10 mm. Embryo about 11 x 7 mm. Radicle small and inconspicuous compared to the cotyledons.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

May be endemic to CYP, known only from the Claudie River area. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 100 m. Grows as an understory plant in well developed gallery rain forest.
