Fine oak grain in the wood and a corresponding pattern in the inner blaze.

Leaves

Leaf blades about 6-15 x 4-8 cm. Scattered stellate hairs usually visible on the lower surface of the leaf blade. Midrib depressed or flush with the upper surface. Large pores in the twig pith visible with a lens if not visible to the naked eye.

At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade ovate or cordate, apex acuminate, base auriculate or obtuse.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to Australia, occurs in WA and NT. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 150 m. Grows in swampy rain forest and gallery forest.
