Stem

Cream or pale, brittle stripes usually visible in the outer blaze.

Leaves

Leaf blades amplexicaul, about 5-12 x 3-7 cm. Lateral veins curving but not forming definite loops inside the margin.

Flowers

Calyx tube (hypanthium) pubescent, about 1.5 x 4 mm, lobes linear, pubescent, about 2-3.5 mm long. Petals pubescent, difficult to distinguish from the sepals. Staminal filaments cream to pale green, up to 8-10 mm long, each inserted in an orifice in the base of the anther, anthers about 0.6-0.8 mm long. Ovary glabrous, about 2 mm diam., surrounded by and half enveloped in the calyx tube (hypanthium). Placentas apical, ovules +/- pendulous. Style cream or pale green, about 10-12 mm long. Stigma small and inconspicuous.

Fruit

Fruits +/- globular, about 5-6 mm diam., calyx persistent at the base.

Seedlings

Features not available.

Distribution and Ecology

Endemic to Australia, occurs in WA and NT. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 300 m. Usually grows near creeks or on the margins of swamps which are in rain forest or gallery forest.
